One-on-One Adult Tutoring

Tri-County Literacy Council is currently in need of a volunteer tutor to teach English as a Second Language to a female student originally from Dominican  Republic.  The focus of the training will be to build vocabulary and conversational skills in the English language.  It will provide tutors the opportunity to gain teaching experience, learn about another culture, and build self-confidence.   The student is available late afternoons or early evenings.  The tutor will meet the student once or twice a week at a location convenient to both individuals.  Matches meet regularly (every 3 or 4 months) with the assessor for added support.  Tutors receive an individualized learner plan supplement and recommended resources at the time of the match.
