Volunteers needed for many positions at Dundas County Hospice

Responsibilities:

Are you interested in becoming a volunteer?
You may volunteer in many ways, we are looking for volunteers and we can find a role to suit your needs and schedule.

  • Client visiting or support for Caregiver relief
  • Grief, bereavement, and caregiver support
  • Day program client support and/or cook
  • Board of Directors -meet monthly (except in July and August), assist with fundraising activities, policy, human resources etc. make decisions regarding the organization.
  • Fundraising help for special events, setting up and tearing down, decorating, support with event planning and management
  • Office volunteering – volunteers are needed to help with writing tax receipts, and other office duties.
  • Special Event Days – join us for the day of any of our special events to help deliver an enjoyable, fun day for community members and to raise money for Hospice services.
  • Gardening and landscaping
  • Equipment delivery

Visiting Volunteers are vital to our organizations but so are volunteers that perform other activities to support Hospice. Sitting at a client’s bedside is not for everyone. There are many other ways to help. Other potential volunteer roles: photography, videography, Massage Therapist RMT, music performers or therapist, reflexologist, Reiki. We are always looking for new and creative ideas for volunteering if you have a special skill or idea not listed please let us know, we are always open to new suggestions.

Skills:

Direct service volunteers are required to take the 30 hour Hospice Palliative Care Ontario (HPCO) online 30 hour course (no cost)

Dundas County Hospice offers support, educational opportunities, training, and mentoring.
